MagDrive: Custom motion, engineered with your team

One transfer of energy, from the stator straight to the shell: no gearbox, no encoder and no oil. Every MagDrive runs from a standard VFD with servo-like precision.

Five families, designed to fit your machine.

Every MagDrive runs on Direct Drive Rotary Motion (DDRM) and starts as one of five families, chosen by how it mounts. Then it’s built to your machine: diameter, face width, shell, belt and connection. PulleyDrive alone comes in more than 100 designs.

  • Powered Hub

Mounted on one side: a cantilevered drive with the belt end left open.

Side belts, chicanes, alignment and diverts. Belts swap on and off from the open side.

  • Powered Pulley

Mounted on both ends, for wider belts and higher torque.

Belt conveyors of every kind. Standard sizes are in the PulleyDrive configurator.

  • Powered Multi‑Drive

Up to four drums on one shaft, each one controlled on its own.

High-speed merges, indexing, and repositioning product that arrives at random, with sensors. An IDEA! Awards winner.

  • Powered Shaft

A hollow bore, an active shell, or a stationary shell with a turning shaft.

The hollow bore replaces a hollow-bore gearbox directly. The active shell drives a belt and secondary systems.

  • Powered Assembly

An array of drives on one superstructure, each driven independently.

Smart multi-belt feeders: gap closing, timing and grouping, with as many as 54 hubs in one assembly.

Each family comes in many sizes and builds. Drawings show how it mounts, not to scale.

Retire the servo stack.

Precise motion usually means a chain of parts, each one there to fix the last. A MagDrive does the same job in one sealed part.

A servo-driven belt today

  • High-speed servo motor
  • Encoder for feedback
  • Planetary gearbox to trade speed for torque
  • Servo drive to close the loop
  • Mechanical hub with 14 or more bearings

A MagDrive

  • One sealed direct drive
  • No encoder, no gearbox
  • A standard VFD in sensorless vector or PM mode
  • No oil or grease above the food line

Built for real lines.

Thousands of Powered Hubs installed since 2017. Side by side, they become arrays: many belts in a small space, each with its own speed and timing.

A powered array: 27 stainless Powered Hubs side by side on one frame, each with its own sprocket and belt
27 belts, side by sideA powered array: 27 hubs side by side, each driving its own belt. Tight belt spacing a servo and gearbox can’t reach.

A 14-to-2 mergeFourteen lanes merged down to two, with every belt driven directly and no gearheads or power transmission parts.

From application to drawing set.

Every project starts with what you’re trying to achieve. Then our engineers design the DDRM technology to get you there.

Talk to an engineer
  1. Send us the application.

The product, the load, the speed and timing, the space you have and the controls you run.

  2. Our engineers design the motion.

We choose the configuration, size the drive and shell for your belt, and check it against your controls.

  3. Design it in.

You get the part number, drawings, a 3D model and the VFD parameters for your machine.

Questions people ask.

Which configuration do I need?

It depends on how the drive mounts and what it moves. Cantilevered belts usually want a Powered Hub, full-width belts a Powered Pulley, several belts on one axis a Multi-Drive, and gearbox replacements a Powered Shaft. Tell us the application and we’ll recommend one.

Can a MagDrive replace a servo?

Yes. Every One Motion drive can act as a servo replacement: precise, synchronous start/stop and indexing to 1/16", without an encoder, a planetary gearbox or a servo drive.

Can each belt run on its own?

Yes. Multi-Drive drums and the hubs in an array are each driven independently, so every belt can have its own speed and timing.

Which VFD do I need?

Any VFD with a permanent magnet (PM) mode or sensorless vector control. MagDrives run on Allen-Bradley, Yaskawa, Lenze, Emerson drives. Never connect one straight to main power.

Will it work with my belt?

Shells are cut to drive the belt you run, or made as a four-flat Square Drive for set-screw or laser-welded sprockets, all sealed to IP69K.

I just need a standard powered pulley.

Use the PulleyDrive configurator: six diameters, every belt we build for, with the part number, 3D model and VFD parameters in a few clicks.

What’s the warranty?

Every new One Motion direct drive carries a 3-year limited warranty covering materials and mechanical components under normal operating conditions.
